Learn to Play the Piano Fast With This Cool Technique!

Ah … the piano. So many want to learn how to play it. Yet all too often, lessons stop short. All that’s about to change. You see, most people think they have learn note-reading before they can make music on the piano.

But not only is note reading unnecessary, it’s also a hindrance when it comes to being creative at the piano.

Here’s a technique that will help you learn to play the piano fast! And it won’t take you years, months, or even weeks. We’re talking hours here - if that.

The technique I’m referring to is something called the open position chord. And with it, you’ll be able to actually create your own unique music very, very quickly.

Let’s take a look at how this is possible.

First, the open position chord uses both hands right away to create a nice modern sound at the piano. The chord is split between hands. The chord itself consists of 6 notes. You can see an example of this in the lesson “Reflections in Water” available below.

Second, as I mentioned earlier, it’s a modern sounding chord. Most teachers start their students out with triads. There’s nothing wrong with the humble triad. But why begin there when you can work with a chord position that gives so much for so little effort.

For example, just by fingering an open position chord, you can make music. How is this possible? Because of the wide note spread. In fact, the open position chord takes up more than 2 octaves of the piano keyboard! With this much space, all you really have to do is play around with it and music comes out.

But no one can adequately describe what the open position chord is. You have to experience it for yourself.

Learn Piano Chords

If you want to learn piano chords that sound smooth and professional, it’s really a lot easier than most people think. Don’t let the sheer number of chords, alterations, and voicings overwhelm you or stop you in your tracks. Once you learn a few simple fundamentals, you’ll be able to play beautiful piano chords quickly and easily.

The Basics

Most of those beautiful, professional-sounding piano chords are simply variations of the basic major, minor, augmented, and diminished triads (3-note chords), or the dominant 7th chord (which is not a triad, but which has it’s own unique “flavor”). Before you can play piano chords that sound like the pros, you absolutely must be able to quickly read and play the basic chords.

The easiest way to do this is to say and play these chords while trying to play them as quickly as possible, moving up and down the piano keyboard through all chord inversions. An inversion is when the root is somewhere other than the bottom of the chord. For example, C major is C - E - G in root position, but is E - G - C in 1st inversion and G - C - E in 2nd inversion. Playing and saying inversions is one of the fastest ways to learn piano chords quickly and easily.

But there’s no need to memorize ALL the piano chords right away, when all you need to do is…

Start Working On One Song At A Time

When you were much younger, did your parents or teachers make sure you knew every word in the language before you started talking? Of course not! And why should it be any different when playing piano?

It shouldn’t!

When you study chords for a single song, simply focus on those chords and nothing else. Remove all the alterations and first learn the basic chords - major, minor, diminished, augmented, 7th. Then, once you’re able to play the song with those chords, start adding back in the alterations until you can play those smoothly.

After all, you really just want to play the song your working on, right? So why learn chords that you don’t even need for the song?!

YOU Be The Judge

Don’t let others tell you what’s right or wrong with your chords or playing - it’s music, after all, which is a very personal, creative thing for most people. Listen and talk to other pianists, try to find out what chords makes their styles unique, and use your own best judgment when playing chords. That will give you your own musical personality and help you set the mood that you want to set for yourself and your listeners.

Using these tips, you can learn piano chords faster, more easily, and more enjoyably than you ever imagined.

Tips to Play Piano Better

Whether you already play piano or are about to learn, you want to play well. Maybe you want to impress your family. Or perhaps you want to be able to impress your friends. Maybe you simply want to play well for your own enjoyment. Well, here are some tips to make you play better…

Whether you already play piano or are about to learn, you want to play well. Maybe you want to impress your family. Or perhaps you want to be able to impress your friends. Maybe you simply want to play well for your own enjoyment. There are many things you can do to ensure that you don’t fall into any bad habits while perfecting your playing. This article will offer some piano playing tips that will help you develop your skills.

Tip #1: One Hand At A Time

When learning to play a new piece, begin by playing with only one hand. Learn the hand movements and play the piece with each hand separately. If you are right-handed, this exercise will strengthen your left hand. Once you know how to play the piece with each hand separately, you may be surprised how easy it is to play it with both hands.

2. Learn to play the piece before using the foot pedals. Just like you learn piano pieces one hand at a time, you will want to learn to use your hands and feet separately. Once you’ve mastered using both hands on the piece, you can practice just using your feet while counting beats. Once you’ve memorized the foot portion of the musical piece, you can put the hands and feet together. Many people struggle with using the foot pedals for piano because they’re not used to activities that coordinate their feet with their hands. If you plan on playing the organ some day it is vital that you learn to practice the feet and hands separately while you learn piano pieces.

3. Visualize yourself pressing the piano keys as you listen to music or as you recall playing the music in the past. Visualization has been shown to improve concentration and to work as a form of practice. Visualization is also a very important part of memorizing musical scores. You can’t completely learn piano pieces by visualization, but you can definitely improve on the effectiveness of your practice sessions.

4. Have a balanced practice plan. You do not want to spend all of your time practicing warm ups and chord combination exercises. Likewise, you do not want to spend all of your time to learn piano by playing a single piece of music. You need to be disciplined enough to dedicate time to your warm ups and time to your pieces during each practice session. While repetition is important, rest and variety are also important to keep your mind fresh. Keeping a balanced routine now will increase your rate of learning new pieces after you’ve been playing for about two years.

5. Change your practice routine every three to six weeks. While it is important to have a consistently balanced practice routine, that doesn’t mean you have to practice the same stuff in the same way forever. Change to a different warm up plan once in a while and you’ll learn piano in a more holistic way mentally. Throw in different chord scales into your warm ups as you learn piano. Learn a different style or piece now and then. You may think if you like one style of piano piece better than others the best way to learn piano is to concentrate on that style. It is true that you should spend the most time on the style you like the best, but learning as many styles as possible will actually increase your versatility within the style you like best. You may even find yourself mixing in some things to create a whole new style of music that is your own as you learn piano.

Steps On How To Play Piano

You don’t have to be a professional musician to enjoy learning to play the piano. Whether you’ve never tried playing the piano or you’ve played the piano some and never mastered it, learning to play the piano can be a simple and enjoyable process. Here are the basic steps to learning the piano..

The piano is considered by most as the ultimate personal instrument because with it a single person can create beautiful harmonies to match any mood or feeling. This is why nearly all professional musicians, no matter what their specialty, have spent a great deal of time learning to play the piano well.

But you don’t have to be a professional musician to enjoy learning to play the piano. Whether you’ve never tried playing the piano or you’ve played the piano some and never mastered it, learning to play the piano can be a simple and enjoyable process. But, it does take time and patience. Here are the basic steps to learning the piano:

1. Get access to a piano or synthesizer. This may sound silly, but some people actually think they can learn to play the piano by listening to music or reading a book. You have to have access to a piano to truly begin learning to play the piano.

2. Take piano lessons. Piano lessons can come in many different forms. The more forms you combine the more complete your learning experience will be. If you’re totally dedicated to learning to play the piano then schedule piano lessons with a piano teacher, buy several beginning piano books, buy instructional CDs and DVDs, sign up for online piano learning classes, and find any other instructional piano helpers you can get. The more you combine and study thoroughly the quicker and more complete your learning will be.

3. Take advice from experts. Concentrate on the areas of learning they recommend. Your books and your teachers may take different approaches to things, but they all know more about playing the piano than you do. Do whatever they tell you to do for each of their respective lessons.

4. Make practicing the piano a priority. No matter how much you study or take classes, unless you find at least 10 minutes per day to practice, you will not improve. You should begin your practice with the warm ups at least four times per week.

5. Learn the music one measure at a time. You won’t be sitting down and playing any advanced music pieces from start to finish on first try until you’ve spent hundreds of hours practicing the piano. In the mean time learning to play the piano music will always involve patiently going through it one piece at a time. When you can play the whole musical composition, move on to your next piece of music. Go back over the ones you’ve already learned at least once per month in order to retain what you’ve learned.

Learning to Play the Piano

Many children are prompted to learn to play a piano and parents even buy a piano for their child, like my friends in Toronto. But they failed to realize that a piano too, like a car, requires regular tuning. Without proper tuning, a piano will just not produce the proper sound and notes, and that is when you need an experienced and expert piano tuner. When they asked me for advice and suggestions, I suggested Phil Manning, a friend of a friend.

Many parents, like my friends in Toronto, encourage their children to learn some musical instrument, and hope that their child will master at least one musical instrument, and hope that they discover a child prodigy, who can grow up to be a master. Learning to play the piano is a favorite amongst parents, and there are many classes for pianos. Buying or renting a piano for practicing at home is easy too, but what most parents forget is maintenance. Maintenance of a piano or piano tuning is as crucial and important as learning the right notes. Without proper maintenance and tuning, the best piano produces the worst sounds and notes. When my friends heard their child play the piano and the sounds and notes were not perfect, they called me up to ask if I knew someone in and around Toronto, who could provide Toronto Piano Tuning services.

I could not help them out immediately as I do not play any musical instruments, nor do my children, but I do have friends who are accomplished musicians, and my friends knew this. I called up a few friends to enquire about Piano tuning and after a few calls got hold of a name - Phil Manning. He is a Toronto resident and has been providing expert piano tuning services in and around Toronto for many years. He also has a website and anyone interested in Toronto Piano Tuning services can just search in Google and come up with his site and contact details. I passed on this information to my friends and I hope that they were satisfied with his services.

The Piano is a complex instrument and is not something as simple as a ukulele or a violin. Although these musical instruments too, like all musical instruments require some tuning, it is not as complex as a piano. The piano tuner requires expertise and a keen ear to differentiate between the sounds and notes of a tune. Just as learning to play the piano takes years, tuning too takes years to gain an expertise. Only a properly trained, expert, and experienced piano tuner can properly tune a piano.

A novice or an inexperienced piano tuner will only make things worse. As a parent, having spent thousands of dollars on a piano, and lessons for your child, would you call in a novice to tune a piano, or pay an experienced and expert piano tuner? If you are parents of a child learning to play the piano, in any part of the world, and need a piano tuner, be sure to call in someone experienced and expert like Phil Manning. You can search in the phone book or on the Internet. I searched for Toronto Piano Tuning and found Phil’s website. You can search for a piano tuner in your city by replacing Toronto with the name of your city or area.

If you require services for
Toronto Piano Tuning or require the services of an expert piano tuner like Phil Manning, please do call now.
